Stops: AirBnB, bridge over the Danube, and wandering. (Day 184)
I was supposed to arrive in Budapest early Sunday morning on a sleeper train from Warsaw. Let’s just say that did not happen. Polish Railways can die in a ditch. I got an extra beautiful Sunday in Warsaw which was nice because I had finally found the perfect cafe. Arrived Budapest Monday night. And, went to the supermarket while the laundry ran. I have an apartment with a washer! Wandered a bit Tuesday morning and came back to just take a break. Some pics.

My apartment on Vasvari Val utca. Clean, quiet, comfortable. Ikea.

Stairway leading down from the apartment in classic courtyard style building.

Moar stickers. This one will go in my research project as well because there is one in there that expresses solidarity with victims of October 7 in Israel. And, maybe some frustration/displeasure with both the Israeli government and Hamas as well. This is on the gate to the synagogue next door.

Gate to an as-yet ungentrified courtyard apartment building.

Selfie down by the Danube. No visible flooding damage here. Why I am here and not Krakow or Bratislava as planned.

Lion on the Buda side of the Erzsébet Bridge.

Late brekkie-early lunch of some not as spicy as I had hoped meatballs, “rustic bread” toast, lots of pickled beets, and espresso from the machine in the kitchen.
