Stop: Ortomare Restaurant, Mano-Shinmachi, Sado The town and village streets in Sado are a random assortment of inhabited houses and shops, vacant akiya, and blown out long strips of vacant lots. Structures are built in the machiya style, often about 4 to 6 meters wide, but extending back as far as they can in a…
Today’s Daily Create:#tdc5367 #ds106 #dailycreate Accidental Photo Arthttps://daily.ds106.us/tdc5367/ My old Pixel would often turn on in the pockets of my favorite Uniqlo shorts. They were lined with mesh, so I guess sometimes just being close enough to my leg would activate the phone. Lots of butt-dials, butt-texts, and even a few butt-toots. But, some of…
I read this post, “Image Scoping Machines,” from CogDog this morning, and out of a mix of curiosity and boredom, I gave in and took one of the slopbots for a spin. First Try Second Attempt (First Try Lost in the Browswer) A solitary male traveler, likely in his early sixties, stands on a sun-drenched…
For today’s once-in-a-while foray (TDC5232) into The Daily Create, I give you, Craig, The Hand Snail.
I first set this up a month or so ago, but then goofed up the Internet connection, so it went down as soon as I left for the city last time, but I have a weather monitoring station up at Nippara 277. Inspired by my friend Ray from California, who spends a fair amount of…

Tanzania Day One and Two: Kilimanjaro Airport, Arumeru River Lodge, Tululusia Waterfall. It all started at Arumeru River Lodge, where I arrived a day early for the safari via Helsinki, Dusseldorf, and Doha. The lodge is beautiful and once everyone else started to arrive we went for a short “walking safari” nearby to get an…
Three of the tiniest bollards. Just enough to subtly deter parking or driving through. Three pyramidal concrete teeny tiny bollards on a university path retreat into the distance. A puddle to the right reflects blue sky and clouds and just the edge of the science building. TDC prompt. My Masto post.
Caption/alt-text: A thin layer of clouds in a blue sky over Shackleton’s Hut in Antarctica. The ground is gray and rocky with scattered patches of snow and ice. A tall pillar or tower sits to the left and a bit of the sea is visible to the right. A figure in an orange coat is…
I’ve lurked around ds106 for ages and ages, and I think I did a few tdcs back in the day, but here we go after reading Sarah Honeychurch’s post, Guest Post: Bricolage as a way of life, on Reclaim. Masto post. Shot with a cheap Akaso.
