(Stops: All over town starting at Hotel Lidia. Day 231)
It was a beautiful, clear, sunny early winter day, so perfect to wander around a bit. I had just one destination, the Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, and the rest was just … let’s go look at that.

Lots of late nineteenth century architecture to enjoy.

Wrong car parked out front.

Stopped by the central cemetery.

I guess this is the kind of marker one got in December 1945.

Just some doors.

Exterior of the Museum of Ethnography and Natural History. Amazing building inside and out. So much tile and glass.

Ornate cast iron spiral staircases are definitely a thing in this part of the world.

Look up!

Tons of cool old Hasselbladski cameras on display that were used by the researchers. “Goziront” old-style panorama camera.

Very psychedelic murals for prehistoric displays. (Right-click for full images.)

Back of the Casa Naționalităților (House of Nationalities).

Just chillin’ with old V.I. down by the lake. It was warm enough to sit on a bench by the shore and read a bit while crows did their thing.

Very spomenikish fountain.

Fountain in Europe Square. Lots of people at the outdoor cafes and kiosks. Christmas Village is coming soon.

It was a good day of just walking around a bit. Get my bearings. See what the city is like.
