Tanzania Day One and Two: Kilimanjaro Airport, Arumeru River Lodge, Tululusia Waterfall.
It all started at Arumeru River Lodge, where I arrived a day early for the safari via Helsinki, Dusseldorf, and Doha. The lodge is beautiful and once everyone else started to arrive we went for a short “walking safari” nearby to get an introduction to the Tanzanian landscape, see some animals large and small and wander up to a waterfall.

In the garden at Arumeru Lodge. Very lush with lots of fruit trees.

A cute little dik-dik in the yard at the Lodge. They bound around and don’t worry much about humans.

Driving to the “walking safari” with a warthog crossing far in front of us.

Entering the Momella area.

Do not get too close to the Cape Buffalo. They are the second most dangerous animals in Tanzania.

Trying out the B/W filter on my fun, new panorama app for my phone.

Can you spot the giraffes in the background of this dorky selfie?
This was the softest of soft introductions to Tanzanian wildlife. But it was wonderful to just get out for a walk and wander around a bit with a guide and a few of my new friends from the Marafiki Safari group. You ain’t seen nothing yet.
